Öğe A theoretical framework on embodiment in digital design(Mehmet Topçu, 2024) Erdem, Arzu; Asut, SerdarThis article presents a theoretical discussion on the need for developing digital design environments that can strengthen our relations with the tangible, tacit, and implicit dimensions of design cognition. It synthesizes relevant concepts and theories in the field of phenomenology, addressing creative design thinking. It suggests that designer's tacit ways of knowing can be accommodated in digital design practices by developing tools that allow intuitive and embodied interactions. To this end, it points out specific concepts, methods, and theories within Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research, arguing that they can enable the development of better digital design tools that can cope with complex human perceptual mechanisms, including touch, as an extension of both body and mind, and that can encompass the implicit areas inherent in design knowledge. Therefore, concerning the creative design disciplines, it highlights the importance of closely following the findings of research within HCI that are relevant to design knowledge and its implementation.Öğe Porticos on Moda Street and the Re-production of Space(İstanbul Gedik Üniversitesi, 27 Haziran 2022) Paköz, Aslihan Ece; Sinirlioğlu, HaleAccording to Lefebvre, space is a social production, which is incomprehensible without the rhythms of everyday life. All rhythms of everyday life encompass a time-space relationship. One needs to outsee these rhythms to be able to understand and analyze them; a certain degree of externality triggers the analytical mind. To perceive that space is a social production, the present study deals with the porticos on the Moda Street of Kadıköy, which are regarded as an interface wherein the rhythm of life changes. To better understand the everyday life rhythms of these porticos, which are used by both pedestrians and shopkeepers, secondary actors of the porticoes, especially street vendors were observed. Finally, the reproduction of porticos with the everyday life and practices was discussed. It is hoped that this study will contribute to Lefebvre’sÖğe Investigation of the effect of myrtle spurge (Euphorbia myrsinites L.) extract on some mechanical properties of fabrics(Abdullah Kaya, 2025) Tuna, Gülsemin Savaş; Uzun, Ayşenaz; Ergün, Umut YaşarTextile products have the most direct relationship with the human body after food products. Dye residues and chemicals on our clothes can penetrate our bodies through sweating and respiration which affects our health. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the extract obtained from Euphorbia myrsinites L. on various mechanical properties of fabrics and to find natural alternatives to currently used chemicals to improve these properties. In the study, an extract was obtained from the dried E. myrsinites samples by the decoction method. The extract was applied to various fabrics to determine the most suitable fabric, and a sample fabric was produced. The friction fastness, touching, flammability, crease resistance, and abrasion resistance tests were performed on the produced sample and standard fabrics. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the sample fabric produced using Euphorbia extract outperformed the standard fabric in wet and dry friction fastness, crease resistance, and mechanical friction resistance tests. It also reached the desired levels of toughness, density, and smoothness in the touching test. The fabric ignited approximately 13-14 seconds in flammability tests, and this result was considered positive as the criterion for these tests performed in advanced laboratories is 10 seconds. Based on the findings of this study, it can be suggested that fabrics which do not wrinkle, wear out quickly, or burn easily can be produced by using Euphorbia extract instead of chemicals that are harmful to health.Öğe 19. yüzyılda inşa edilen fabrika yapılarının kent üzerindeki olumsuz etkileri ve Osmanlı yönetiminin çözüm arayışları(2018) Boyacıoğlu, DidemÖz:Osmanlı fabrika yapıları devletin modernleşme projesinin bir parçası olarak ağırlıklı olarak 19. yüzyılda inşa edilmiş yapılardır.
