However, surgical augmentation may be requi red for patients with reduced bone density, which complicates the use of an interim prosthesis. This reportdescribesthe rehabilitation of an edentulous patientwith an interim maxillaryoverdenture re-tained by short implants with individual attachments during the healing period ofvertical and horizontal ridge augmentation. This technique increased the stability of the interim prosthesis even with shortened flanges to eliminate any pressure on the surgical site. This technique could also be used when immediate loading is not possible dueto lack of primary stability of the implants placed for definitive fixed prostheses.
