Bu olumsuz etkiler hemşirelerin çalışma performanslarında düşüşlerin yaşanmasına neden olabileceği gibi hasta güvenliğini de tehdit edebilmektedir. Bu çalışma bir üniversite hastanesinin yoğun bakım ünitesinde çalışan hemşirelerinde, merhamet yorgunluğunun hasta güvenliğine etkisini belirlemek amacı ile tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel türde çalışma olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Adana ilinde bir üniversite hastanesinin yoğun bakım ünitesinde çalışan ve araştırmaya dahil olma kriterlerini karşılayan 81 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Veri toplamada literatür bilgisi ve araştırmacıların deneyimleri ile hazırlanan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu”, “Tıbbi Hataya Eğilim Ölçeği” ve “Çalışanlar İçin Yaşam Kalitesi” ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin istatiksel olarak değerlendirilmesinde yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma, student t-testi ve ANOVA analizleri kullanılmış olup, tüm testlerde istatistiksel önem düzeyi 0,05 olarak alınmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin % 35,8’i 25 yaş ve altında, % 82,7’si kadın, % 58,0’i evli, % 51,9’u lisans mezunu, % 35,8’i 6 ila 10 yıl arasında çalışma yılına sahip olduğu bulundu. Yoğun bakım ünitesinde çalışan hemşirelerin% 75,3’ü merhamet yorgunluğu yaşadığını, % 64,2’si iş yükünün fazla olmasının, % 51,9’u hastanın genç olmasının merhamet yorgunluğunu etkileyen faktörler olarak belirtmiştir. Hemşirelerin tıbbi hataya eğilim ölçeğinden aldıkları genel ölçek toplam puan ortalaması 230,13±15,60 ortalama ile düşük eğilimli olduğu bulundu. Merhamet yorgunluğu ise 20,83±12,77 puan ortalaması ile ortalamanın altında saptandı. Tükenmişlik ve merhamet yorgunluğu konusunda hemşirelerin eğitim düzeyleri ve çalışma süreleri arttıkça azalma yaşadıkları bulundu. Merhamet yorgunluğu ile hasta güvenliği arasında pozitif yönde ilişki (r=0.262) belirlenmiştir.fects on physical, mental and emotional aspects, especially in nurses working in intensive care units. In this study, a descriptive and crosssectional study was performed to determine the effect of compassion fatigue on patient safety in nurses working in an intensive care unit of a university hospital. The study consisted of 81 nurses working in an intensive care unit of a university hospital and willing to participate in the study. In the data collection, “Personal Information Form”, “Medical Error Tendency Scale” and Professional Quality of Life Scale” scale were used. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, student t-test and ANOVA analysis were used for statistical evaluation of the data and statistical significance level was taken as 0.05 in all tests. Of the nurses participating in the study, 35.8% were under 25 years of age, 82.7% were women, 58.0% were married, 51.9% were undergraduate graduates, 35.8% were between 6 and 10 years found to have years of work. 75.3% of nurses working in the intensive care unit experienced compassion fatigue, 64.2% stated that the workload was high and 51.9% stated that the fact that the patient was young affected the compassion fatigue. It was found that the overall scale mean score of the nurses from the tendency to medical error scale was low with a mean of 230.13 ± 15.60. Compassion fatigue was found to be below average with a mean of 20.83 ± 12.77 points. It was found that nurses experienced a decrease in burnout and compassion fatigue as their education level and working time increased.
