Sağlık meslek lisesi son sınıf öğrencilerinin hemşirelik mesleğine ilişkin düşünceleri*

Abstract

AMAÇ: Bu çalışma, İzmir ilinde sağlık meslek lisesi öğrencisinin hemşirelik mesleğine yönelik düşüncelerini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. YÖNTEM: Araştırmanın verileri 20 Mart-10 Nisan 2016 tarihleri arasında, İzmir ilinde bulunan üç Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesinden toplandı. Araştırmaya toplam 246 sağlık meslek lisesi son sınıf öğrencisi katıldı. Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacılar tarafından literatür taranarak hazırlanan öğrencilerin sosyodemografik özelliklerini ve hemşireliğe ilişkin düşüncelerini belirleyen toplam 32 sorudan oluşan anket formu kullanıldı.BULGULAR: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin %66,4'ünün sağlık meslek lisesini isteyerek seçtikleri saptandı. Öğrencilerin hemşirelik mesleğini seçme nedenleri incelediğinde, %45,3'ünün iş olanığı, %9,3'ünün mesleğin sağlık alanında olması, %7,3'ünün puan durumunun uygun olması, %7,7'sinin insanlara yardımı sevme, %6,5'inin çevre önerisi %6,1'inin gelişime açık meslek olması nedeniyle mesleği seçtiklerini görüldü. Öğrencilerin %38,9'unun ilerde hemşirelik mesleğini yapmak istemediği, %34,8'inin kararsız olduğu, %42,9'unun lisans eğitimine devam etmek istemediği saptandı. Öğrencilerin mesleğini sevme durumları incelendiğinde, %49'unun mesleği sevdikleri, %17'sinin sevmediği, %34'ünün kararsızım yanıtını verdiği görüldü.SONUÇ: Araştırma sonucunda, hemşirelik mesleğini seven öğrencilerin hemşirelik mesleğine yönelik daha olumlu düşüncelere sahip oldukları, mesleği daha profesyonel buldukları ve bu alanda gelecekte eğitim ve çalışma ile ilgili planlarının olduğu belirlendi.

AIM: This study was conducted in order to determine the opinions of senior students of the nursing department of a vocational health high school in İzmir about the nursing profession. METHODS: Research data were collected from three vocational and technical anatolian high schools in İzmir from March 20 to April 10, 2016. In total, 246 senior students took part in the research. In the collection of the data, the questionnaire form which consists of 32 questions concerning the socio-demographic features of the students and their opinions about the profession of nursing and were developed by the researchers.RESULTS: It was determined that 66.4% of the students participating in the research chose the vocational health high school intentionally. The reasons of the students for choosing nursing profession were as follows employment opportunities (45.3%), preference for the health sector (9.3 %), the score suitability (7.3%), desire to help people (7.7%), suggestions of the people in their intimacy (6.5%) and because nursing profession was open to development (6.1%). It was determined that 38.9% of the students did not want to pursue the profession of nursing, 34.8% of them were hesitant and 42.9% of them were reluctant to continue with the undergraduate education. It was determined that 49% of them liked the profession, 17% of them did not like, while 34% of them were hesitant. CONCLUSION: As a result, it was determined that the students who like nursing had more positive thoughts about the nursing, they found nursing more professional, and had future plans for education and working.
