The overall management principles for treating spinal injuries
focuses on maximizing clinical outcome by obtaining and
maintaining spinal stability and optimizing neurologic function.
An optimal treatment method should reduce the detrimental
effects of injury, reduce pain and suffering, improve functional
outcome and quality of life, provide the best outcome with the
least amount of associated morbidity. In osteporotic patients
without neurological deficit; we can do indirect reduction and
kyphoplasty, indirect reduction and titanium vertebral body
stent or percutaneous cement augmented pedicle screw fixation
and kyphoplasty or titanium vertebral body stent. In the presence of neurological deficit; anterior decompression with mini
open or endoscopic route is necessary.
