dc.description.abstract | In the context of rising competition and pressing work-family balance concerns, employees increasingly seek to receive flexible work practices. Inspired by these trends, the overarching aim of this chapter is to explore a specific type of i-deals, flexibility i-deals, and how they relate to work and non-work domains. Our first aim is thus to offer a relatively new perspective in looking at non-work life through understanding its relationship with flexibility i-deals. Second, this chapter aims to examine the roles of various stakeholders involved in the i-deal granting process. The employee, the supervisor, the organization, the spouse, family, and the external network (e.g., friends, community) are all parties in the negotiation process; thus we believe it is important to understand the role of each in how they influence these types of i-deals. In doing so, we aim to stimulate future research in flexibility i-deals within the context of employee lives outside of the workplace. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022. | en_US |
